Description

CIMAR Cimalastic is a single-component, ready-to-use water-based waterproofing solution designed to protect small and large surfaces from water and moisture. The product combines synthetic elastic resins, special bitumens, and high water-resistance quartz fillers, forming an elastic, continuous, and waterproof coating after drying.

Cimalastic is particularly suitable for waterproofing substrates before laying ceramics, natural stone, and glass-ceramic mosaics. When used with POTENZIO reinforcing fabric, the system provides higher stability, better stress distribution, and long-term protection for high-traffic surfaces.

Application

The substrate must be dry, clean, stable, and free of dust, oils, grease, loose parts, cement residues, lime, plaster, or old paint. For old ceramic floors, check if the tiles are well-secured; unstable areas should be removed and restored with a fast-setting cement mix. For crumbly substrates, priming with PRIMER C at a consumption rate of approximately 300 g/m² is recommended.

After any priming, wait approximately 24 hours, then apply the first coat of Cimalastic using a smooth spatula, brush, or roller. Press the product into the substrate for maximum adhesion. Once hardened, apply a second coat to achieve a continuous and uniform thickness of approximately 1.5 to a maximum of 3 mm.

Vertical turn-ups must always be reinforced with POTENZIO. For areas over 25 m² or more stressed substrates, reinforcing the system is recommended, embedding the reinforcement into the first fresh coat. The reinforcement overlap should be approximately 5–10 cm.

Advantages

CIMAR Cimalastic is a practical solution for projects requiring reliable waterproofing without the complex preparation of two-component mixtures. The product is single-component, ready to use, and easily applied with a spatula, brush, or roller.

After drying, the coating maintains high elasticity — the technical data sheet specifies an elongation at break of 300 ± 40% without reinforcement and 75 ± 10% with POTENZIO reinforcement. This is crucial for terraces, balconies, wet rooms, and substrates subject to thermal expansion, micro-cracks, or movement.

Cimalastic has excellent adhesion to the substrate, with a direct bond strength of ≥ 2.0 MPa and low capillary water absorption w < 0.01 kg/m²·h⁰·⁵, positioning it as a serious professional solution rather than just a standard bitumen coating.

Applications

  • waterproofing under ceramic tiles, natural stone, and mosaics;
  • bathrooms, shower cabins, wet rooms, and saunas;
  • balconies and terraces;
  • swimming pools;
  • wooden, concrete, and sheet metal roofs;
  • foundations and footings;
  • concrete, metal, plasters, drywall, wood, cement and gypsum substrates;
  • existing ceramic floors, when stable and well-secured;
  • difficult details — planters, flower pots, joints, corners, edges, and vertical turn-ups.

The product can also be used as an elastic protective coating for concrete against aggressive atmospheric gases such as CO₂ and SO₂, as well as to limit the presence of radon in underground spaces.

Why Cimalastic is suitable under tiles

For terraces, bathrooms, shower cabins, and wet rooms, the most important thing is not just having a “coated layer,” but building a continuous, elastic, and stable waterproofing system that works under the final flooring.

Cimalastic was specifically developed for waterproofing substrates before laying ceramics, natural stone, and glass-ceramic mosaics. Once fully dry, it can be covered with cementitious tile adhesives. The technical data sheet indicates compatibility with Class C2 adhesives according to EN 12004:2007+A1:2012.
